About me
I am a 23 year old graduate from the Game Design program at Full Sail University. Creating video games is my passion! I strive to learn new things with each and every project I take on. This page is all about my experience with game development and design and why I am pursuing this career path!
High School
I was introduced to the world of programming at Cherry Creek High School. After consistently going above and beyond in intro to computer science, I wanted to learn more. In my junior year, I took AP computer science. That class use Java-script to teach everything you need to know about Object Oriented Programming. I learned good habits and common practices by making little programs and games. I fell in love with writing code and the problem solving that came along with it. Out of everything taught to me that year, the most important piece that stuck with me is how to teach myself and learn additional concepts that were never covered.
My Love For Gaming
I grew up playing video games on the xbox, PS3, Wii, and Nintedo DS with my brother. Once in high school, I was able to save enough money to buy computer that could barely run games. With my newly acquired PC, my love to gaming really started to take place. I started playing Dead by Daylight at release with my cousin and his friends. Over time, my online friend group grew as we branched out to more and more games.
History in Esports
In my senior year of high school, a few of my computer science classmates formed an Esports club. I had recently started playing Rainbow 6 Siege and heard they were making a team, so I decided to join. After placing third in our first semester, I was hooked. After I graduated, I formed a team with a few of my friends I met in Esports club, and we continued to play in leagues and tournaments for a year and a half. Not only was I having a blast, I was also learning a lot about what goes into balancing games. Spending so much time with the game gave me a great perspective of how the developers made changes and why they made those changes.
Getting into game design
After graduating high school, I had planned to take a gap year as I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. After a few months, I started messing around in Unity making weird prototypes. As I started to learn about game development, I realized it was the career for me. After a bit of research, I enrolled at Full Sail University to get a bachelors degree in Game Design.
Post Graduation
After college, I have picked up the pace when it comes to working on projects. Along with a few friends made along the way, I have been working on plenty of game jams and side projects alike! With every new project taken on, I am learning more and more about both game development and game design. I don't see myself slowing down any time soon!
